new noveling

I am dripping in Kleenex, feverish and vaguely hallucinatory from lack of sleep. I hate being sick and if anyone has a quick natural cure for a respiratory infection, please, please, please let me know. I'maready taking oil of oregeno, which makes me smell like felafel.

Starting a new novel is such a strange process. I always feel as though I am trailing parts of the last novel I've written with me into the new, like the train of a skirt. I always worry because I certainly don't want to be writing the same novel twice, but maybe this is just part of my process because the books never do turn out the same. At least, I hope they don't.

Right now I'm in the bliss stage, writing out scenes that explore the characters, which maqy or may not be used. I'm not so sure about anything yet...except that I need more hot tea and more tissues.

Hi Caroline, My friend swears by fresh garlic, put in garlic press and take with a spoonful of honey. I also just read about making a tea with a peeled clove of garlic, hot water and a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. That tea with vinegar is supposed to cure practically everything. Garlic is natures anti-biotic.

I hope you feel better!!

Oh Cindy, thank you. I'm going to try that tonight!

I think the truth is that nothing cures a cold but rest and time. But you can make yourself feel better by making sure you drink a lot of any type of nonalcoholic fluid (thins those nasty mucus secretions). Aspirin, time, anything warm to drink... be well! Keep writing!

(I'm healthy now, but still barking like a dog every now and then from leftover chest congestion).

I didn't know you had a blog! How exciting. CarolineLeavittville is the BEST NAME.

I am jealous of where you are in your novel writing. I am in the horrible, dreaded, 150 pages in and I don't know what I'm doing and want to throttle myself stage.

Susan, I was in that stage for THREE YEARS. It took me that long to figure out what the novel was about, who the characters really were, and what were the deeper meanings. Right now, these baby bliss stages are pure heaven, but there is a part of me waiting for that dreaded "what do I do NOW?" moment....
