write, rinse, repeat

I have spent the last hour doing a word search of my novel to find words like "blinking," "lump in the throat" and "sweat prickling." Apparently, I have used them each about 4, 000 times

I need to take a walk (she said, blinking, with a lump in her throat.)

  1. Is that while you are prickling with sweat? I kid, I kid. Argh, I know this feeling well. In fact it was you who busted me on the over use of word "groaning".

In fact, I remember laughing so hard, when you wrote in your notes of my work..."For crying out loud, someone stop this woman from groaning so much! "

    Loved it.

I am sure that you are working your butt off and that your new novel will be amazing!!

  2. I can totally relate to this! And another writer friend told me that when she got her edits back she realized nobody ever sat in a chair. They were "plopping" into chairs all over. Now I can't get that out of my mind... hope it's not in my text.

This is why we have editors. I bet your new work is delicious.
