Max was actually Mayor Shinn, so his singing parts this time were group parts. But the boy has real charisma. I love this musical, too, and always had a crush on Robert Preston. Plus, I like librarians (and Shirley Jones) too.
Isn't theater wonderful for kids? Do you remember the WHS production, with Kevin Scannell star athlete as the Music Man, and a girl who'd probably never had a date but had a killer voice...what was her name...Nancy Pederson...as Marion the librarian? I'll never forget that pairing, in a world where the role would normally go to a cheerleader. My fave Robert Preston role ever was in Victor/Victoria. Julie Andrews, as well.
Fenway Fran! I must know you! Who are you? Kevin Scandell! I absolute remember him and I remember Nancy Pederson who wore little white socks and this pink jumper all the time,a nd she became popular after she was Marian.
